A mediados de septiembre, Gorillaz anunció el lanzamiento de The Mountain, su esperado nuevo álbum de estudio que llegará el 20 de marzo de 2026 a través del sello Kong. El proyecto promete ser una de las producciones más ambiciosas de la agrupación británica, con una amplia diversidad de sonidos, idiomas y colaboraciones, entre ellas las de los argentinos Trueno y Bizarrap.
Luego del estreno de “The Happy Dictator” junto a Sparks, Gorillaz acaba de presentar “The Manifesto”, una pieza que combina la introspección lírica de Damon Albarn con la energía de Trueno y la voz del fallecido rapero de Detroit, Proof. El tema explora los temas del ciclo de la vida y la trascendencia. “Crucé la puerta y hoy me siento libre, dejé el pasado y me fijé en lo simple”, canta Trueno en una de sus estrofas.
Un comunicado oficial describe la canción como “un diálogo entre la vida y la muerte”, donde Trueno, ganador del Grammy Latino, “trolea a su creador” con versos en español e inglés, hasta que irrumpe la voz póstuma de Proof en un impactante freestyle grabado minutos antes de una sesión de estudio. El resultado es un cruce generacional y emocional que refuerza el espíritu colaborativo de The Mountain.
El 20 de septiembre, durante el festival Pulse of Gaia en Madrid, Gorillaz interpretó por primera vez “The Manifesto” con Trueno como invitado. No es la primera colaboración en vivo entre ambos: en 2022, el rapero argentino se había subido al escenario del Quilmes Rock para improvisar junto a la banda en la mítica “Clint Eastwood” “La hija de Damon escucha mi música y seguramente le habrá mostrado algo. Así surgió todo”, contó el artista en diálogo con La Nación.
The Mountain incluirá canciones en árabe, inglés, hindi, español y yoruba, y una lista de invitados que abarca nombres como Anoushka Shankar, Johnny Marr, Yasiin Bey, Idles, Paul Simonon, Asha Bhosle, Black Thought y más. Gorillaz presentará el disco con The Mountain Tour, que recorrerá Reino Unido e Irlanda en la primavera de 2026, con Trueno como telonero en varias fechas. La gira culminará con un show monumental en el Tottenham Hotspur Stadium de Londres el 20 de junio, junto a Sparks y Trueno como invitados especiales.
