El nuevo álbum de Rosalía, LUX, ya es uno de los lanzamientos musicales más comentados del año. Con letras en 13 idiomas -14 si contamos la diferencia entre español y catalán-, es un disco estético y conceptuales, donde el tema de lo divino y lo humano sobrevuelan cada track. En entrevistas previas, la artista contó que la obra explora el misticismo femenino y la manera en que distintas mujeres —santas, místicas, poetas, profetisas— enfrentaron el deseo, lo divino, la mortalidad y los límites de la existencia.
A partir de esas vidas extraordinarias, Rosalía construyó un mapa sensorial donde conviven Teresa de Ávila, Hildegard von Bingen, Rābiʿa al-ʿAdawiyya, la profetisa Miriam, Santa Clara, Santa Olga de Kiev, y hasta figuras budistas y taoístas. Cada una es contenida en una canción.
Santa Teresa de Jesús — “Reliquia”, “Divinize” y “Sauvignon Blanc”
El primer gran guiño hagiográfico del álbum llega con “Reliquia”, donde Rosalía se inspira en Santa Teresa de Jesús (Teresa de Ávila), mística española del siglo XVI. La metáfora del cuerpo como reliquia —primero el corazón, luego el cuerpo entero— remite directamente a la historia de la santa, cuyas partes fueron amputadas y conservadas como objetos sagrados tras su muerte. La presencia de Teresa continúa en “Divinize”, donde cada vértebra del cuerpo se vuelve un misterio, y la columna se transforma en un rosario sobre el que rezar. En “Sauvignon Blanc”, la influencia teresiana aparece en la renuncia: Rosalía canta sobre soltar lo material tacos, porcelanas y piano.
Ryōnen Gensō — “Porcelana”

“Porcelana”, inspirada en la monja y poeta japonesa Ryōnen Gensō (siglo XVII). Rechazada en un templo por su belleza —considerada una distracción para los estudiantes—, Gensō se quemó el rostro en un acto radical de disciplina y autonomía.
Rosalía mezcla flamenco y hip-hop para narrar esa historia desgarradora, donde la belleza se convierte en arma y condena.
Sun Bu’er y Miriam — “Novia Robot” (solo en edición física)
“Novia Robot” retoma un patrón similar: mujeres que se desfiguran para sobrevivir o avanzar. La canción se inspira en la poeta y maestra taoísta Sun Bu’er (siglo XII), quien vertió aceite hirviendo sobre su rostro para evitar violencia masculina durante un viaje.
El segundo faro de la canción es Miriam, profetisa judía y hermana de Moisés, cuyo canto celebra la liberación del pueblo hebreo frente al faraón. Vivió en el período en que los judíos vivían en Egipto como esclavos y el faraón había decidido matar a todos los hijos varones que nacieran.
En el antiguo testamento se cuenta que habiendo estado embarazada, Iojebed, dio a luz a Moisés y, para protegerlo, intentó mantenerlo escondido, pero, no pudiendo ocultar más al recién nacido, por miedo a que lo delataran los llantos y toda la familia muriera, "tomó una arquilla de juncos y la calafateó con asfalto y brea, y colocó en ella al niño y lo puso en un carrizal a la orilla del río" (Éxodo 2:3-4). Miriam siguió la canastilla para ver que el recién nacido estuviera a salvo.
La canasta fue encontrada por la hija del faraón, que al verlo, decidió adoptarlo. Míriam salió de su escondite, para decirle que le traería a una mujer que le diera pecho al bebé, enviándole a su propia madre. Al niño lo llamaron Moisés.
San Francisco y Santa Clara de Asís — “Mio Cristo Piange Diamanti”
Cantada íntegramente en italiano, “Mio Cristo Piange Diamanti” reflexiona sobre la relación entre San Francisco y Santa Clara: amistad profunda, amor no posesivo, soporte mutuo y unión espiritual sin contacto físico.
Santa Clara fundó la orden de las Clarisas y fue la primera mujer en escribir una regla de vida religiosa aprobada por la Iglesia. Inspirada por san Francisco de Asís, renunció a su vida noble para seguir un ideal de pobreza radical, obediencia y castidad. Su orden, conocida también como las "damas pobres", se dedicó a la vida contemplativa y la oración.
Los versos de Rosalía hablan de una gravedad que se vuelve gracia, en diálogo con Simone Weil y su célebre La pesanteur et la grâce.
Hildegard von Bingen y Vimalā — “Berghain”
El título de “Berghain” no remite al club berlinés sino a su significado original: un bosque en la montaña.
Allí aparece la alemana Hildegard von Bingen, abadesa, compositora y visionaria que describía revelaciones divinas como luces que atravesaban su cráneo y ardían en su pecho.
La segunda figura es Vimalā, una de las primeras escritoras del Therīgāthā, monja budista que también ejerció la prostitución.
Santa Olga de Kiev — “De Madrugá”
En “De Madrugá”, Rosalía canta en ucraniano para retratar a Santa Olga de Kiev, una figura que rompe el molde de la santidad canónica: vengativa, estratega, violenta y, al mismo tiempo, fundadora religiosa. Olga de Kiev fue una gobernante que vengó brutalmente el asesinato de su esposo Ígor, adoptó el cristianismo y estableció un sistema administrativo en la Rus de Kiev. Como regente de su hijo, organizó una venganza contra la tribu que había matado a Ígor, sometió a los drevlianos y creó los primeros centros administrativos y un sistema de tributos.
Posteriormente, fue la primera gobernante de la Rus de Kiev en bautizarse y promovió activamente el cristianismo, sentando las bases para su adopción oficial por su nieto.
La canción "De Madrugá" enfatiza la tensión entre venganza y destino:
“No busco venganza / la venganza me busca a mí.”
Juana de Arco — “Jeanne” (solo en edición física)
La épica de Juana de Arco aparece en “Jeanne”, cantada en francés.
Rosalía rescata el imaginario de la adolescente guerrera guiada por voces divinas, símbolo absoluto de coraje y sacrificio. Fue una campesina francesa que, creyendo recibir instrucciones divinas, lideró al ejército francés a importantes victorias durante la Guerra de los Cien Años.
Rābiʿa al-ʿAdawiyya — “La Yugular”
La canción más importante del álbum remite a Rābiʿa al-ʿAdawiyya, mística musulmana del siglo VIII conocida como “la madre del sufismo”.
Inspirada en el versículo del Corán que afirma que Dios está más cerca del ser humano que su vena yugular, Rosalía construye una teología pop de unión, infinitud y amor universal.
La artista conecta además con la famosa anécdota de Rābiʿa: la mística que quería quemar el Paraíso y apagar el Infierno para que nadie creyera por miedo ni esperanza, sino por amor puro.
El tema cierra con un monólogo de Patti Smith, que amplía esa idea hacia infinitos cielos posibles.
